How to become an attractive applicant in biotechnology industry?

I am currently getting my MS in Biotechnology and will be done this semester. Currently I am trying to get ready to start searching for jobs in the industry. My undergrads was in international business management. I want to set up my CV/resume so that I am competitive when I apply for jobs. Here are my questions:

What should I focus in this last semester of classes so that I can be competitive?

What jobs are available that are not just lab jobs (ie: consulting )?

What are the best companies to interview for (Preferably Chicagoland) ?

What is pay the scale I should expect and ask for?

How can I use my business background to to be more attractive?

What should I know or be doing as I prepare (ie : publications/groups/societies/certificates )

Thanks in advance
